The Soft Shop

The renovation of Orange Lodge #143 on Fogo Island transforms a historic fraternal hall into Soft Shop, a social enterprise celebrating domestic textile crafts. The design preserves the building’s traditional character while introducing millwork that serves as both furniture and partitions — modernizing the interior without compromising its original volume and heritage.

Living Craft Museum

The Orange Lodge #143, built in the early 1900s, sits adjacent to a woodworking workshop in the Fisherman Union Hall and an event space within the former St. John the Evangelist Church. Its development is part of a broader revitalization strategy aimed at diversifying the economy of Fogo Island.
